Fu Manchu Friday

The Ravens are in the Playoff on Sunday! Caw Caw
(That's the cry of a Raven if you didn't know your bird lingo!)

In Baltimore, every Friday during football season is Purple Friday, but this week it's even more Purpley around the city, and state.

Here's some of my co-workers from this morning!

One of the big trends right now, thanks to Joe Flacco, our Quarter Back is a Fu Manchu.

You know what a Fu Manchu is right?

Here's a few examples:

Dr. Fu Manchu

Joe Namath

Joe Flacco

Paul Sr. from Orange County Choppers

Hulk Hogan

My Dad

And now.....

Drumroll please.....

Introducing the newest Fu Manchu..

my son, E

Farmer's Market

Summer = Farmer's Market

The town that I live in was once a very RURAL area. Farmers and Horse Breeders were the majority of the population. There were a few neighborhoods, including mine, which were built in the 1950's, and then a building explosion occurred in the late 80's and early 90's, and now the once rural county, is a flourishing suburban county.

We still have the incorporated "town," and they have their own town police, like on the Andy Griffith Show, and Main Street, and Town Hall, and I love it!! There is a Christmas parade every year, A huge 4th of July Parade (complete with local Cloggers, Farmers with their John Deere Tractors, Church Groups, Local Schools, bands and dance groups),  Live Street performers (and beer and wine trucks) on the "First Friday" night of the month in the Spring, Friday night movies in the park, little boutique shops, great local restaurants and bars, and the town Bakery, and Candy Store..YUM!!
 I love this place.

But my favorite "Local" advantage of living in a rural turned suburban area in the summer is all of the farmers,
and the FARMER'S MARKET!!

Every Tuesday, and every Saturday from April to October, I have the pleasure of having the freshest produce, seafood, flowers, Organic breads and sweets, local honey and beeswax candles, local chicken, and beef, fresh eggs and cheese, and sometimes even live music, or local celebrity appearances! It's also a Dog-Friendly Farmers Market,
and almost EVERYONE except me brings their dogs along!!

This past Saturday, E and I went to the FM and purchased 6 pots of Dahlias, 2 Summer Squash, a loaf of Organic 3 cheese bread, a bottle of honey, and 5 honey sticks for less then $20!!

Here are a few pics from our visit.

 Cherries
These huge hanging baskets were only $8-$15
This pot of Dahlias was only $10
E loved this Great Dane and wanted me to take a picture to show his daddy how big he was!
 Herbs!!
A couple of the vendors

Can't wait until Saturday, guess where I'll be bright and early!

These are a Few of my Favorite Things...

Don't you feel like you should be wearing a flared skirt, and spinning in a field of flowers, while singing the infamous song sang by Julie Andrews??
You're welcome for the earworm!

I'm soo looking forward to the weekend, yes it's only Monday, and they are calling for severe thunderstorms every day this week, and traffic is sure to be horrendus, but a girl needs something to look forward to right?

There are lots of plans for the weekend..

#1 Saturday and Sunday, The Lucketts Spring Market
($7pp per day)

Oh.....My!!!! I am so excited for this!!

It's in Leesburg, Virginia, and is basically a Huge Craft show!! But it's a lot of re-salvaged items, cottage style, vintage items, collectables, home decor and furniture!

Here are some pictures, directly from the Lucketts website of some of last year's goodies:

#2 Saturday PREAKNESS
(Prices Vary)

The infield party should be wild and crazy....this year's sales pitch is: "The people's race- The People's Party", and their mascot is: Kegasus

There are great musicians playing including: Bruno Mars (love him), Train (Hey soul sister) and Phil Vassar.

OH, and a horse race will take place!

I'm past the whole hanging out in a wet and muddy field drinking beer and overpriced wine, with wall to wall people, who by race time are so drunk that they are passing out and throwing up on one another, so instead, I'll be enjoying the race with the company of  friends at one of the neighbors houses at their
annual Preakness Party!

We'll be drinking Black Eyed Susans

And grilling, and singing, and dancing in the streets, all until the wee hours of the morning, or when we decide that we've had enough, and then we just walk home!!

#3) Saturday and Sunday

This is a wonderful experience for all Americans to take part in.(If you are in the Maryland, PA,NJ, DC, or Virginia, area, I suggest that you attend this event at least once in your life!

It's the Andrews Airforce Base Annual Airshow.

The Golden Knights Paratroopers, Thunderbird Jets, and various other Military Aircraft perform live for crowds of thousands.

You are able to climb inside of F-22 fighter jets, tanks, and Helicopters.

It is a little boy's dream!!!! I've been attending since I was a kid, and honestly, it never gets old.

There is such a sense of American pride!!

I am Really looking forward to the weekend!!

Inside Out and Backwards

What do you get in the morning when you go to bed with your jammies on inside out in backwards?

In Maryland, you get SNOW! (and that means NO SCHOOL!)

And to think, last Friday it was 76 degrees here!!!
